Lowering Your Risk of Dementia and Stroke: Understanding Your Brain Care Score
Researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital have developed a new tool called the Brain Care Score (BCS) to help patients understand and reduce their risk of developing dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and stroke.
The BCS is a 21-point questionnaire that assesses physical health factors, lifestyle behaviors, and social/emotional health. In a recent study, people with higher BCS were found to have lower risks of dementia and stroke later in life.
The goal of the BCS is to quantify key prevention measures and empower patients to improve their scores through simple steps like exercising more, eating healthier, reducing stress, and getting quality sleep. Read the full MGH article here.
